Buffet of Love
“And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all
mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith,
so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.”
1Corinthians 13:2
There is no greater feeling than to be in Love. Clouds of loneliness and depression evaporate as the rays of love fill our hearts for someone we deeply care about. Images of their beautiful faces fill our minds. Time slows down as we spend our affection with the person we long to be with all the days of our lives. This is how it feels to be in love.
We were created in the image of love. Love is more than just a feeling or a deep sense of emotion. It is a gift. It is the very character of God that was instilled into the very heart and soul of every man when we were born on this planet. We were created to receive love from Him and to give love back to Him. The original meaning of love from this scripture is unconditional love or the love that we don’t deserve; yet God gave it to us anyway. It is also translated as the “Buffet of Love.”
God’s love has no boundaries and no bounds. Nothing can stop Him from loving you more. The scripture even says that “God loves you as much as He loves Jesus, His son.” It is the heartfelt prayer of Jesus the night before He was crucified: “I have made you known to them and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.” (John 17:26) Even right now, His love continues to abound in a world rampage with sin. God’s love is even extended to the unthankful and the wicked. His love has the power to transform a broken-wretched sinner into a Holy Ghost-filled saint. The devil and his demons can’t stop it. Hell and death can’t kill it. Darkness can’t overcome it. Humans can’t even comprehend the measure of His love. That’s why God’s love can only be received by faith.
All you have to do to receive God’s unadulterated love, which the apostle Paul called the immeasurable gift, is ask God to fill your heart and life with His love. “And the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” (Romans 5:5) God wants you to abound in His love through your fellowship with Him. Believe me, He has more than enough to fill you up with His buffet of love.
