Get on the Right Side
“He who is not with Me is against Me, and
he who does not gather with Me scatters.”
Luke 11:2
Are you unsure if you’re truly following God? Do you wonder whether you’re fully serving Him? Jesus gave us a way to know for sure. He said, “He who is not with Me is against Me.” (Matthew 12:30) To be with Jesus means to follow Him wholeheartedly as His disciple. But how do we do that? Jesus also said, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.” (John 8:31) This means that His Word should be at the center of your life. It’s not just something you hear once in a while—it’s something you meditate on daily. His Word shapes your decisions, your mindset, and your purpose. When you make the Word of God your foundation, you stay close to Jesus and experience success in every area of life.
Another sign of being on the right side with Jesus is whether or not you are gathering with Him. He said, “He who does not gather with Me scatters.” (Luke 11:23) Gathering means bringing souls into God’s kingdom. If you’re truly following Jesus, you’ll have a heart for leading others to Him. This could be through sharing the gospel, encouraging someone in faith, or simply living in a way that reflects His love.
But “gathering” doesn’t just mean winning souls—it also means assembling together as the Body of Christ. Every believer is called to be part of a community. Christianity is not a solo journey. God designed us to grow together, worship together, and serve together. You need a strong, Spirit-filled church where you can be encouraged, strengthened, and challenged in your faith. You are not meant to be a lone ranger in the kingdom of God; you are a vital part of His Body. At the same time, being part of the Body of Christ means walking in unity, not division. The church is not about personal pride or proving that we’re better than others. It’s about fulfilling His purpose. It’s about aligning our hearts with His mission.
Today, take a moment to search your heart. Are you abiding in His Word? Are you gathering with Him? Are you connected to a church family, growing in faith alongside other believers? Getting on the right side isn’t about earning God’s love—it’s about choosing to walk in the truth He has already given you. If you’ve been distant from His Word or disconnected from His people, it’s not too late to change. Make a decision today to draw closer to Jesus, to stay rooted in His Word, and to be actively involved in His kingdom. When you align yourself with Him, you’ll find purpose, peace, and the joy of truly following Christ.
