of darkness, but rather expose them.”

Ephesians 5:11

Is the world around you getting any better today? Is the news you see on TV getting any better?  Are the stories you have been reading in the newspapers all over the world getting any better?  Is the stuff you see on the internet getting any better? It is not.  It will continue to get worse and worse every passing day. This doesn’t mean that I am trying to discourage you about the future, but it is the world that we live in. What are we supposed to do about all the darkness encompassing us, then? The Word of God encourages us to ignore it. Don’t pay attention to it. So, do we turn a deaf ear to all the bad news around us? Of course not. You just don’t give it any more attention than it deserves. Don’t get too smart or wise in your own eyes to focus on all the bad stuff that is going on.

It is time to take your eyes and ears off the darkness and see the light. Instead, you should know more about what God is doing than what the devil is doing. The devil only wants to take credit for himself for all the evil that is happening around the world. Many of God’s people have fallen into the devil’s scheme and have agreed to get along with the negativity of worldly events instead of agreeing with the light of God’s Word. The most powerful thing for us to do to shut the devil up is by exposing the darkness with the light of God and the Word of God.

As children of light, God doesn’t want us to focus our attention on the darkness but to focus our attention on the light of Jesus. The light of Jesus always outshines any darkness. He wants His people to be so full of the light of His presence in the upcoming ages that wherever we go, darkness and sin are exposed, and people’s lives are being set free. The commission of the Lord never changes. He wants us to see the light of His redemptive power. We are told to be the light to the nations and the people around us.

Jesus brought the light of God into the earth and salvation for those who lived in darkness; it is our God-given commission and calling to bring His light now to those who sit at the gates of death. We must choose today to take our eyes off the darkness and set our eyes upon His marvelous light so that He can use us as His light beam to overcome the kingdom of darkness, bring healing to broken souls, and show forth the light of His salvation to shine into the world until His return.
