Faith Makeover
“So then faith comes by hearing,
and hearing by the word of God.”
Romans 10:17
Do you ever feel at times that you question whether you are walking in faith or not? Or maybe you feel as if your faith is at a standstill or not working at all. The reason that you feel that your faith isn’t working is because you don’t put it to work. In times like these, you might want to consider getting a faith makeover. What is a faith makeover? It is like a facial makeover where an overall beauty treatment (involving a person’s hairstyle and cosmetics, and clothing) is intended to change or improve a person’s appearance, but in this case, it is being performed from the inside that would reflect the outside. It could also be like a complete reconstruction and renovation of something. But in this case, it is a reconstruction and renovation of your faith to make it even stronger. But like any makeover, there is a price you need to pay to get it done. Not to worry, God doesn’t need your money for a faith makeover, but He does need you to pay the following price. He needs your willingness.
God’s Word comprises His written word, “logos,” and His spoken word, “rhema.” “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17) The Word of God here refers to the spoken word or “rhema” (in Hebrew), which means the breaking of silence or an utterance. God reveals Himself to you not only through His written Word but also through His spoken words, either through a sermon, a person, or God’s voice from inside of you. You hear the Word of God that may come from your pastor, your spouse, your mentor, your children, your spirit-filled brother and sister, and whoever else God might use to speak His word through. Once you hear it, you will also need to respond to it through obedience until it comes to pass. You see, once you are committed to the Word of God by listening and obeying it, it will gradually transform your attitude toward life, and that will lead to a new development of Christ-like character in you. That is having a faith makeover.
Once you recognize that it is Christ Himself who lives inside of you and that He is in control of your life and not yourself, you will see how easy it is to trust His Word instead of the circumstances around you or what other people say about you. When you take the time to read, listen, and obey His Word, you will come out of this a new man and woman in Christ, clothed in the beauty and power of His glory! This is the bold you. The courageous you. The blessed you. The favored you. The healed you. The royal child of God in you. Then the devil better look out, because the new Christ-possessed child of God is walking to terrorize his place!
