God Looks Out for You
“For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
And His ears are open to their prayers.”
1 Peter 3:12
Some people think that God is distant, sitting somewhere in the universe, too busy with global crises to care about the small details of our everyday lives. Others picture Him as a harsh judge, constantly looking for reasons to unleash His wrath on those who fail Him. But nothing could be further from the truth. God is intimately involved in every person’s life, no matter how big or small their struggles may be.
One of the most beautiful examples of this is found in the story of the prodigal son. This young man made a reckless decision—he left his father’s house, took his share of the inheritance, and wasted it all on reckless living. Eventually, he found himself broke, starving, and reduced to living among pigs, eating their scraps just to survive. In his lowest moment, he realized something: even his father’s servants lived better than this. So, he decided to go home, hoping his father would at least take him back as a hired worker.
But what had the father been doing all this time? Every single day since his son left, the father had been looking out for him—hoping, waiting, longing for the day he would return. And when he finally saw his son walking down the road, he didn’t wait for an apology or demand an explanation. Instead, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him. Before the young man could even finish his rehearsed apology, his father was already restoring him. He put the best robe on his shoulders, a ring on his finger, and sandals on his feet. To the father, nothing mattered more than having his son back home, safe in his love. (Luke 15:11-24)
This is a picture of God’s heart for you. No matter how far you’ve wandered, He is always looking out for you, longing for your return. At the cross of Calvary, Jesus became the ultimate prodigal son, taking on the sin and brokenness of the world. He bore the weight of every mistake, every rejection of God’s love, and every moment of wayward wandering so that we could be restored to the Father. Through His sacrifice, He made a way for every lost soul to come home.
When you’re sick, God looks out to heal you. “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” (Psalm 147:3) When you feel lost and alone, God looks out to guide you. “The Lord is my shepherd; I lack nothing.” (Psalm 23:1) When you’re struggling financially, God looks out to provide for you. “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19) Even until the end of time, God will never stop looking out for you. His love and grace will follow you all the days of your life and into eternity. No matter where you’ve been, His arms are always open, ready to welcome you home.
