Jesus Forever Present In You
“If I ascend into heaven, You are there;
If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.”
Psalm 139:8
In the world, people can easily forsake or abandon you. You may have been abandoned by your biological parents when you were a small child. You may have been abandoned by your spouse, who ran off with another person. You may have been abandoned by your family or relatives because of your newfound faith in Christ. You may have been abandoned by your closest friends for unknown reasons. No matter what the case may be, God has promised you that He will never leave you or forsake you because He is forever present in you.
How do we recognize Christ’s presence in our lives? How does He interact with us? How does He approach us? Right before Jesus was to be crucified, He told His disciples about the Holy Spirit: “I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor” (John 14:16). Jesus had previously served as their Counselor while He was on earth. However, Jesus is now returning to the Father. When Jesus mentions “another Counselor, ” He is informing the disciples that this counselor will do for them what Jesus has done for them. This counselor is the Holy Spirit, and Jesus promises to stay with them forever (John 14:17). The Holy Spirit of promise resides in every born-again child of God, including you.
In your time of loneliness, Jesus is ever present with you by His Holy Spirit to comfort you. In your time of confusion, Jesus is ever-present to guide you with His peace. In your time of struggle, Jesus is ever-present to make you thrive. In your time of sorrow, Jesus is ever-present to cheer you up. In your sickness, Jesus is ever-present to heal you. In your poverty, Jesus is ever present to bless you according to the riches of His glory. In your sin, Jesus is ever-present to forgive you and restore you to Himself. His presence is forever by your side solely because of what Jesus had already done for you at the cross. The moment Jesus said, “It is finished!” He had forever reconciled you to the Father by His blood and imputed His righteousness upon you. Today, not only are you made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, but His righteousness inside you grants you divine access to the throne of grace as sons and daughters of the Most High God. Nothing in this world or not of this world can ever separate you from His presence or love for you…Nothing.
