“Jesus stopped and called them.
“What do you want me to do for you?” he asked.”
Matthew 20:32

Two blind men were sitting by the roadside outside the city of Jericho. They were waiting for the people to give them compassion for their daily donations. What they didn’t know was that their lives were about to be changed dramatically that day. In the distance, they could hear the crowd coming their way. Though they could not see, they were able to hear the crowd shouting the name of Jesus as they were passing by. The two blind men had heard stories of how Jesus, the healer and miracle worker, had healed many who were sick, deaf, and blind. Immediately, when they heard the loudness of the crowd and Jesus going by from where they were sitting, they shouted, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!” The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they shouted all the louder, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!” Jesus stopped and called them. “What do you want me to do for you?” he asked. “Lord,” they answered, “we want our sight.” Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately, they received their sight and followed him.

The same question is pertinent to you today, as the Lord is asking you, “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He always prioritized your greatest need or “want” and sought to fulfill that “want” in your life. The Lord is never too busy to stop and call you out and talk to you. Jesus already knew that the blind men who came to him were blind in their appearance. However, He allowed them to answer specifically what they wanted him to do for them, and that is to give their sight back. You may have many wants in your life, and God knows them all before you come to Him. However, God also knows how to prioritize your greatest want at the moment of your life. It may be that you desperately need a new car to get your kids to school and work. It may be that you need a new house for your family. It may be that you need a new job or career to provide for yourself or your family. It may be that you need healing specifically in your body so you can once again live your life sick-free. Whatever the case may be, you can confidently present your wants and needs before the Lord. He will not judge you or criticize you for your requests because He wants you to have what you want. When you come to Jesus with what you want, He will greet your requests with compassion. The scripture says, “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” (Psalm 37:4) The desires of our hearts are those things that drive us—our passions—those actions and states of being we love the most.

Today, be assured that as you look unto Jesus and what He has already done for you at the cross of Calvary, you can believe that God wants you to receive what you want according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. You delight Him as you continue to believe and trust that He will fulfill your wants in His timing, not yours. Your miracle could be immediate, or it will take some time, but keep on believing and keep on asking. In the end, you will truly see with your own eyes, as you receive your miracle, that God takes great pleasure in giving you what you want.
