My Declaration of Faith:

Sometimes I catch myself scrambling to fix everything. I am overthinking, stressing, and trying to fight battles I was never meant to fight. But God doesn’t want me living in a constant state of anxiety or fear. He calls me to trust Him, to rest on His promises, and to expect His goodness even when life feels like a war zone.

I think of King Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20. Faced with overwhelming enemies, he didn’t sharpen swords first; instead, he sent the singers ahead. And as they praised, “Praise the Lord, for His mercy endures forever,” God Himself set ambushes against their enemies. By the time Judah reached the battlefield, the victory was already won.

The word “mercy” there is the Hebrew “hesed”, which is God’s unfailing love, grace, and kindness that never runs out. Even if I’ve made mistakes or caused some of my own troubles, I can still turn to Him with praise. I can lift my voice and declare His goodness, trusting that while I worship, He is moving in ways I cannot see.

Scripture reminds me, “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still” (Exodus 14:14), and “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7). My job is not to figure it all out, it’s to stay close to Him, keep praising, and let Him fight my battles.

Today, I choose to stop striving and start trusting. I will be still before the Lord. I remind myself that the battle isn’t mine, it’s the Lord’s. And if He is for me, who can stand against me?

Prayer for Today:

Father, thank You that I don’t have to fight every battle in my own strength. Teach me to praise You in the middle of the storm and trust in Your hesed, Your unfailing love. When I feel overwhelmed, help me remember that You go before me, and that victory belongs to You. I rest my heart in Your promises today, believing You are already working on my behalf. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
