so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus,

to testify the gospel of the grace of God.”

Do you ever have a desire to finish something that you have started? It could be a painting. It could be a race. It could be a particular project that you are on right now. It could be something like finishing your one-year reading of the entire bible. No matter what that something is, God has created all of His children to be finishers, not quitters. That’s right. God always finishes what He started, and since we are created in His image, we should realize that we are also created to finish.

What if God decided to stop creating on the fourth day? Where would creation be? What if God decided to stop creating man halfway after he created up to his abdomen? What would man be like? Thank God, He didn’t. God finished everything He started because He is the Finisher. Jesus even declared that He is the Alpha and Omega, who is the Beginning and the End, the Author and Finisher of our faith. Every time He starts something, He finishes it. Well, you might say, That’s God, I could never finish anything in my whole life. Well, if you are the type of person who likes to finish things half-done, it is time to stop quitting halfway. There are three reasons why you don’t intend to finish it: you don’t believe that God can help you to finish it, you choose not to finish it, or you are distracted by something else that hinders you from finishing it.

The apostle Paul knew that He was called by God to suffer for the sake of the Gospel. Throughout his ministry, he knew that a time would come when he would have to finish his course in suffering for Christ. Did Paul run away and hide from his course? Not at all; he finished it unafraid and with joy in his heart that he was accounted worthy to die for Christ’s sake. He wouldn’t even allow the other disciples and supporters of his ministry to stop him from doing anything less than what God called him to do. He finished his ministry to the fullest for God’s glory.

Now, God is calling you and me to be finishers because He not only placed the Alpha anointing in us to start a project, but He also has given us the Omega anointing to finish it. But let me tell you that the moment you decide to be a finisher, the devil will start attacking you with negative thoughts of your past failures in not finishing anything in your life. You must learn to ignore him and declare that beginning from this time forth, you are a finisher in Jesus’ name! You must also realize that the biggest quitter and failure is the devil himself, who has managed to fail himself out of his position in heaven. Don’t let him or anyone else distract you from what God has called you to do, but instead, be bold enough to push it through by His grace and be a finisher for the glory of God!
