New Beginnings
“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old.
Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?”
Isaiah 43: 18-19
Today, you could be facing a dead-end road. A failed marriage. A broken relationship. A health issue. A troubled child. A red ticket from your job. A failed business or investment. You are wondering how you can push it through. The weight of your past, failures, and disappointments doesn’t add up to seeing a better future for yourself. You just want to quit, or maybe you already have and don’t have the will to start over again. Life is just too hard for you to accept that there is a possibility for a new beginning.
The good news is that God did not forget or abandon you in your dead ends. He is the author of your new beginnings. The two disciples who walked with Jesus on the road to Emmaus felt the same hopelessness and life as they knew it had come to a dead end. Jesus the Messiah, who came to Jerusalem just a few days ago, has been beaten, mocked, tortured, and crucified. His dead body was placed inside a tomb. Their hope for Israel’s deliverance and redemption has been crushed. Then Jesus appeared to them and hid their eyes from seeing Him in resurrection form. Jesus expounded to them how He must suffer and in three days rise again. After Jesus broke bread with them at the table, the eyes of the disciples were opened and they saw their risen Messiah in front of them. Their faith and hope reignited in their hearts like a burning fire. Jesus gave them and the rest of the people who saw Him after the resurrection a newfound faith that not even death can stop Him from living a new beginning.
Jesus is the Alpha and Omega of your life. He is the Author and Finisher of your journey of faith in this life and the next. In your dead ends, He has your new starting point. In your broken relationship, He has prepared a new relationship for you. In your sickness, He has a new miracle in store for you. In your brokenness, He has new restoration for you. In your lack, He has new provisions for you and your loved ones. In every death, He has a new life for you. In the impossible, you will see his possibilities when you place your life in His hands. As you look unto Jesus, you will see that He is the Lord of new beginnings.
