Gloomy days. We all face them at times in our lives. Depression, discouragement, and grief are spiritual blockers that come to invade our souls and minds. But sadly enough, a lot of God’s children allow these things to come and clog up their faith stream. They don’t realize that if they wallow in it long enough, these things will eventually kill them.
The Greatest Sacrifice
“But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever,
sat down at the right hand of God.”
Hebrews 10:12
Everyone goes through seasons of suffering. Maybe you’ve experienced the heartbreak of a broken relationship. Perhaps you’ve lost a job, struggled with illness, or faced financial hardship. In those moments, it’s easy to feel like your story is over. But if you are still breathing today, that means God is still writing your story—and His plans for you are good.
“And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you.”
Deuteronomy 31:8
There will be moments in life when you feel unsure about what is going to happen in your future. Especially when you may have recently lost a job, a business you poured your heart and soul into, and even a loved one. Your insecurity about the future can lead to a flood of fearful thoughts surging through your mind. You may have questions like, How am I going to survive? What will happen to me and my family now? How am I going to make it?
“looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross,
despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Hebrews 12:2
There will be times when you are facing difficult situations in your life. It could be someone at work, a wayward child who doesn’t want to listen to you, a health crisis, a financial downturn due to losing your job, or someone who just cut you off in traffic.
“You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”
I John 4:4
As we go through life, we will find ourselves faced with circumstances that may be overwhelming to us. It could be the death of someone close to us, a financial crisis, a severe health diagnosis, pressure at work, or people mistreating us. The list can go on and on. When negative things come against you unexpectedly, you may feel like God is one million miles away.
