The Greatest Sacrifice
The Greatest Sacrifice
“But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever,
sat down at the right hand of God.”
Hebrews 10:12
Everyone goes through seasons of suffering. Maybe you’ve experienced the heartbreak of a broken relationship. Perhaps you’ve lost a job, struggled with illness, or faced financial hardship. In those moments, it’s easy to feel like your story is over. But if you are still breathing today, that means God is still writing your story—and His plans for you are good.
Consider the story of Job. He had everything—wealth, health, and a beautiful family. But in a single day, he lost it all. His ten children were killed in a disaster, his livestock and wealth were destroyed, his servants were taken or killed, and he was struck with a painful disease. Everything that once made Job’s life joyful was gone. In his suffering, he must have wondered if God had forsaken him. But his story did not end there. Even after such a devastating loss, God restored Job’s life. He blessed him with double what he had before, including seven more sons and three more daughters (Job 42:10-13). Job’s story is proof that God is always at work, even when we can’t see it.
Maybe you haven’t suffered exactly like Job, or maybe your suffering feels just as overwhelming. Either way, God sees your pain. He knows your emotional burdens and physical struggles. And He knows them because He experienced them Himself. Jesus understands your suffering. He knows physical pain because He was beaten and tortured by Roman soldiers. He knows emotional pain because one of His closest friends, Judas, betrayed Him. He knows loneliness, because Peter, another disciple, denied knowing Him three times. He knows what it’s like to feel abandoned, because as He hung on the cross bearing the sins of the world, even God the Father turned away. But there’s one key difference between Job’s suffering and Jesus’ suffering: Job suffered for himself, but Jesus suffered for you and me. Every pain, every rejection, every humiliation, and every sin of the world was placed on Jesus so that you could be free. His suffering was the greatest sacrifice, proving His deep love for you.
You may feel broken today, but God is not finished with you. Your suffering is not the end of your story. Just as He restored Job, He will restore you. What the enemy meant for harm, God will turn for good. Today, unlike Job, you have Jesus Christ sitting down at the right hand of God as your Mediator between your Heavenly Father and you. He is working behind the scenes on your behalf, even in your darkest moments, bringing a testimony out of your pain. Today, surrender your suffering to Him. Trust that He is writing a new and beautiful chapter in your life. His love, favor, and blessings will restore you completely, and in time, you will see His faithfulness at work. Hold on—keep believing, and keep on trusting because God is in the business of turning pain into purpose.
