“looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross,

despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Hebrews 12:2

There will be times when you are facing difficult situations in your life. It could be someone at work, a wayward child who doesn’t want to listen to you, a health crisis, a financial downturn due to losing your job, or someone who just cut you off in traffic. Whatever the negative situation is, it could make it difficult for you to act like a “Christian” or to believe that God understands what you are going through. It is moments like these that test your faith and make you wonder if you even have any faith left to deal with these things.

My friend, be assured that God knows what you are going through at work, at home, at the doctor’s office, or even in traffic. God knows exactly what is rushing through your mind and your emotions when these negative circumstances hit your life like a ton of bricks. The word of God says, “Jesus endured the cross, disregarding the shame.” In other words, He endured the pain, mockery, and suffering for the joy of accomplishing the goal. What is that goal? The goal is to reconcile us with God. The goal is to take away all of our sins and impart to us His righteousness forever. The goal is to bear all the pain and suffering so that by His stripes, we can receive divine healing. The goal is to be made poor at the cross so that we can receive God’s favor and blessings all the days of our lives. The goal is to face death and the grave head-on so that we can receive the gift of salvation by grace through His resurrection.

Today, if you are facing insurmountable troubles in your life and you see that there is no hope for you, turn your eyes upon Jesus, who is the Author and Perfecter of your faith and who is right now sitting at the right hand of the throne of God. He is your High Priest who is praying on your behalf and advocating for you before your Heavenly Father. It is solely because Jesus had finished His work at the cross, that we can come boldly to the throne of God by the blood of the lamb and know beyond a shadow of a doubt that “God is for us so who should dare be against us? He, who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” (Romans 8:31-32) Take a moment today to look at Jesus in His word and meditate on His promises for you. Every time you look at Jesus, He will refuel your faith, and with joy, you will reclaim all that He has already done for you to give you all things, including favor at work, relationship restoration, financial blessing, and miracle healing in your body.
