Live Out of the Shadow
“Through the tender mercy of our God,
With which the Dayspring from on high has visited us;
To give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death,
To guide our feet into the way of peace.”
Luke 1:78-79
You were never created to live in the dark. When God created Adam, he was brought to life in the light of God’s glory. It was this light that gave him life and a blessed life in the Garden of Eden. Adam was so accustomed to the light of God that the light covered his physical body with the glory of God. But when Adam sinned against God, the light was removed from him, and man has been living in the shadow of darkness from generation to generation. The effect of darkness in the hearts of men is the same as light. If people have been living in the shadows for too long, they’ve become accustomed to the darkness, and they don’t want to get out of it.
People may have accepted that it is all right to live in the shadow of poverty, sickness, and lack since their parents and grandparents have been living in it all their lives. The darkness of their mind is so comfortable that they may be afraid of not knowing what to do if they step out of it. But I want to tell you this: since the beginning, God created the first man; He has ordained man to live in His light. That means it is God’s perfect will for you to live free in the light of His blessing of prosperity in health and wealth. If you are not fulfilling that mandate right now, that means you are still living in the shadow, and you need to live out of the shadow today.
Jesus, who came as the light of the world, died on the cross so that we can be delivered from living under the shadow of death, poverty, and misery, and to guide our feet into the way of peace. Jesus wants us to live in peace, with nothing missing or broken and abounding in every area of our lives. Why? It is so you can outshine the rest of the world, who are living in darkness. God wants to show you off in how blessed you are in health and in wealth, physically and spiritually, so that you can become the beacon of His blessing to the unsaved world. Do you think people want to get saved by a preacher who is broke, sick, and poor? I think not. People in the world have been living that kind of life all their lives. The world wants a way out of that miserable life, not another way in.
For you to start living out of the shadow, you must first begin and end with your confession. If you have been living in the shadow of sickness, you must start confessing the light of God’s healing. If you want to get out of the shadow of poverty and debt, you must confess the light of God’s prosperity into your life. If you want to get out of the shadow of fear, you must confess the light of God’s love that casts out all fears. The more you allow His light to shine through the shadows of your life, the quicker those shadows will leave. Because where light is present, darkness disappears. So go ahead and let the light of His Word be your guide in living out of the shadow.
