Surf On The Waves
“And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.
So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.”
Matthew 14:28-29
Do you ever face a problem that is so big that you wonder how you will ever get out of it? You may have read the Word of God and prayed about that problem a hundred times, but it seems like that problem always gets bigger and bigger. It may be that you have come to the point where you think that God has abandoned you. Let me tell you that God hasn’t left you, so don’t give up or give in to your problem. Don’t allow doubt to enter your heart and steal the power of faith that you have been confessing. Why should I go on, you might say? Because the enemy knows that your miracle is right around the corner!
You need to remember that doubt is the cousin of unbelief, and it stems from the root of fear that God is unable to do what He says that He will do. In His Word. When Peter decided to step out of the boat to go to Jesus, he didn’t impulsively step out. He asked Jesus’ permission to step out. He waited until Jesus approved his request. Peter based his faith upon the word of Jesus instead of his years of experience as a fisherman. What happened when he did that? A miracle occurred, and Peter walked on water! But then, along his miracle-walk to Jesus, his faith wavered as he looked at the size of the waves that surrounded him. Then, the unthinkable happened, and he began to sink. Was it because Peter had no faith? No, it is because he allowed his faith to align with the sound of the waves crashing around him instead of the Word of Jesus: “Come.” Jesus wanted Peter to dance on the waves, but instead, he succumbed to doubt and fear.
How many times have the children of God traded in their miracle for their doubt and fear? They may be excited at first by the Word of God through a preaching or teaching, but as soon as the waves of life begin to roar around them, they easily walk away from God’s Word. You may have done this in the past, but if you want to see God’s miracle manifested in your life today, you have to firmly settle it in your mind that His Word is the final say. Let no devil or demon or problem around you convince you otherwise. Step out of the boat of doubt and fear and surf on the waves with Jesus! If you keep your faith in His Word and your eyes on Jesus alone, He who controls the power of the waves will not allow you to sink.
